Containers at the Edge! + SoarCS ShowCase

As we move computing and applications out of the data-center to closer to the edge we need to rethink how computing works.  Lots of questions arise like:

How do I update hundreds of thousands of nodes?
What happens if the update fails?
How do I update all of the applications on these nodes?
How do I add and remove applications to these nodes after they have been distributed?
How do I make sure that these computers are safe and secure?

This talk will cover some of my ideas, mostly stolen from others, on potential solutions to these problems. Hint we are closer than you think.

SoarCS Showcase!

Langdon will go over some awesome projects by the SoarCS students from UMass Lowell. The projects are:

MYR Image Converter - Christopher Coco, Kevin Wahome
SoarCS Official Website - Meriem Elkoudi, Wendy Carvalho, Shreya Mishra
Number Classifier - Gabriel Lima, Muhammad Bilal
ER Training Simulator for Medical Students - Quinn Dolan, Nick LeBlanc
Guess the TV Show Game - Georgina Nakirya, Shruthi Saravanani
